Thea Cohen is an abstract artist who lives and works in NYC. As a child she attended the Art Students League and studied painting and drawing. In her adolescence she continued her instruction under the guidance of the figurative painter Bertram Goodman. She received a BA in Fine Arts from Brooklyn College and an MA in Art Therapy from Hofstra University. For 25 years she applied her artistic skills and her knowledge of psychology to motivating and inspiring disabled and emotionally impaired adolescents in the NYC school system. Upon retirement, she enrolled in the National Academy School of Fine Arts and studied with the renowned abstract painter Sonia Gechtoff. She is now painting full time in her Harlem studio and exhibiting her work.
